POSITION OVERVIEW

Global Atlantic Financial Company (a subsidiary of Global Atlantic Financial Group Limited) is seeking a candidate for the position of AVP, Head of Risk Data Analytics. Responsibilities include:

  • AVP, Head of Risk Data Analytics within the Risk Data Analytics group.
  • Design solutions for experience studies problems.
  • Manage a team of quantitative analysts, data scientist, and data engineers, performing quality control on their experience studies.
  • Train and manage junior data scientists and quants in the team, and provide technical guidance on all data analysis, statistical modeling, and software development projects.
  • Enhance Global Atlantic's experience studies by coming up with strategies to model new data assets and design solutions to improve data flow from raw data to internally developed statistical learning tools using SQL database and data management skills.
  • Develop models that will be used across the enterprise for tasks ranging from Product Design and Pricing, Risk Management and Block Reinsurance transactions, to the valuation of the company itself.
  • Leverage knowledge of statistics and machine learning to understand and quantify complex systems and utilize statistical techniques to extract insights and competitive advantages from a data set that spans billions of records across millions of individuals and over a decade of time and dozens of financial products and external elements.
  • Design the architecture for scalable data analysis, optimization, and statistical learning tools on AWS to work with big datasets and to improve work efficiency by drawing upon knowledge of computing and optimization tools used to manage information and develop business strategies.
  • Design process for automated model performance monitors and reporting infrastructure to enhance experience studies and assist decision making in risk management, hedging, product pricing, and investment.
  • 40 hours/wk; Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm; The expected annual base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $104,500 to $199,500.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Operations Research, Financial Mathematics, or a related financial quantitative or analytical field plus four (4) years of experience as a Data Scientist or related role.
  • Prior experience must include four (4) years in each of the following:
    • Working with machine learning, statistical modeling, data analysis, and data modeling;
    • Programming in Python, SQL databases, and other natively built parallel computing frameworks; and
    • Working in software development, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and high-performance computing applied to finance or insurance or related operations.
  • Prior experience must include three (3) years in each of the following:
    • Building infrastructure to work with larger, novel data sets, and to help deploy these tools in new ways; and
    • Developing predictive models for policyholder behavior at an insurance company.
  • Prior experience must include one (1) year in each of the following:
    • Managing data scientists; and
    • Completing assumption review projects at an insurance company.
