- Role Overview:
- We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with a strong background in Chef Habitat and Jenkins administration. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing, modifying, and maintaining Chef Habitat cookbooks and scripts to meet evolving software demands. A good understanding of Java programming is a plus. This role requires a highly motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a passion for automation and deployment processes.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Chef Habitat Expertise
- Develop, modify, and maintain Chef Habitat cookbooks and scripts to support installation automation.
- Implement and enhance Habitat plans and packages to streamline software delivery pipelines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Chef Habitat deployments.
- Jenkins Administration
- Manage and maintain Jenkins environments, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Implement Jenkins pipelines for CI/CD processes.
- Troubleshoot Jenkins-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Automation and Deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize and deliver automation tasks based on project demands.
- Pursue timely deployment of automated solutions aligned with business priorities.
- Monitor and optimize deployment processes for efficiency and reliability.
- Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to integrate automation into the development lifecycle.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and recommend improvements to tools and processes.
- Share knowledge and mentor junior team members.
- Programming Knowledge (Optional)
- Utilize knowledge of Java programming for integration tasks and script enhancements where applicable.
- Qualifications and Skills:

Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of overall experience in software automation and deployment.
- Knowledge on Chef Habitat to run installation automation
- Knowledge on Jenkins administration
- Develop/Modify/Maintain Chef Habitat cookbooks/scripts to keep up with software demands and pursue its deployment based upon prioritization in a timely manner
- Knowledge on programming language – Java is good to have.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency with Chef Habitat for automation and configuration management.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins administration and CI/CD pipeline creation.
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
- Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of the Java programming language.
- Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
