About the Role (Your Why)

As an Automation Engineer, you will be providing technical support and expertise, testing new solutions, responding to feedback, and actively participating in future technology road mapping as well as maintain & support current solutions.

Working as a bridge between Automation technologies and customer support teams, Automation Engineers work to take customer requirements and business information to design or re-design, develop, test and implement complex Automation solutions. The Enablement Automation team are committed to Agile delivery with a focus on Automation toolsets and DevOps approach. This role is a great opportunity for a Service Desk Analyst looking for a new challenge or a Wintel engineer looking to expand their knowledge and skillset to join the team.

Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. What You’ll Do

  • Provide Technical support and consultancy, as required
  • Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives
  • Assist in the design and development of new products and tools necessary to make customer accounts comfortable and successful at selling products
  • Participate in the development of SRE Function and capability
  • Maintain & Improve existing implementations
  • Provide technical/ product knowledge for sales people, business, and support teams on customer accounts
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and safe working environment with a ‘Can do’ attitude

 

What You'll Bring

To be considered for this role then you must have most if not all of the following:

  • Experience working with DevOps processes and pipeline automation / CI/CD type scenarios
  • Solid foundation in containerized application management. Concepts such as Docker Compose, bind volumes, container networks
  • Basic / Intermediate Python Development skills. Must be able to construct basic applications / scripts using Python to perform a variety of tasks, such as Automation, data/text manipulation. Ideally exposure / knowledge of frameworks such as Django and Flask
  • Basic Database skills. Must be able to articulate database concepts (tables, roles, queries – eg: Differentiate between DDL, DML and a query)
  • Understanding of ETL concepts and ideally some experience working with ETL tools. Experience working with tools such as AWS Glue or Azure Data Factory highly regarded
  • Intermediate / advanced knowledge of Ansible and AAP/AWX. Must know how they work, how to use modules, collections, execution environments, instances and develop and test playbooks focused on automating processes
  • Basic understanding of Internetworking concepts. Must be able to articulate simple concepts like OSI (ideally understand L4 Up), understand Layer 7 networking (Must understand how HTTP/S works for example)
  • Basic Unix administration skills. Must be able to use a shell to configure basic system settings, such as mounting filesystems, changing permissions and file ownership etc. Must be able to use CLI tools to review logs and troubleshoot

 

It is also desirable if you also have:

  • Kubernetes skills and experience.
  • Experience in internal application support (eg: Exposure to the code). Looking for someone who can take evidence from the application, apply what they see and understand how that is reflected in the code.
  • Elastic tooling (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
  • LLM exposure or skills
