Job Description

As part of the Firm’s continued growth, Dentons is currently seeking an Attorney-at-Law - Associate to practice in St. Kitts and Nevis with solid experience in advisory, banking and finance, corporate and commercial, property and real estate, mergers and acquisitions, litigation and related type matters. The candidate should embrace a forward thinking approach and innovation in the legal services industry to assist our team with handling matters throughout the Caribbean region and working with our wider team of attorneys and other professionals from around the world.

 

The candidate’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Handling and managing matters within the practice areas of the Firm, throughout the Caribbean region.
  • Coordinating with the Firm’s global offices on various cross-border matters.
  • Involvement in corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions.
  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on complex commercial contracts.
  • Leading and advising on real estate transactions.
  • Drafting pleadings, submissions and all other case management legal documents in relation to the Firm’s litigation portfolio and attending Court, mediation or arbitration hearings.
  • Preparing opinions and providing general legal advice on local laws and regulations.
  • Working with the Firm’s partners and other professionals on business development and marketing efforts.
  • Providing support to other areas or activities of the Firm as necessary.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • A Law Degree, Legal Education Certificate and at least five years of post-qualification experience.
  •  CARICOM Skilled National Status or citizenship of an OECS member country.
  •  Strong and varied experience in corporate and commercial law.
  •  Ability to work with a team locally, regionally, and globally.
  •  Possess keen and effective research capabilities.
  •  Commendable time management capabilities to complete tasks with accuracy.
  •  Capacity to adopt international standards and the expectations of the Firm’s global client base.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with stringent deadlines.
