Atlassian Systems Engineer

Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, or Poland. Certain roles have specific location requirements to facilitate collaboration at a particular Grammarly hub.

All roles have an in-person component: Conditions permitting, teams meet 2–4 weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly’s hubs in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a workspace in Kraków. This flexible approach gives team members the best of both worlds: plenty of focus time along with in-person collaboration that fosters trust and unlocks creativity.

Grammarly team members in this role must be based in the United States or Canada, and they must be able to collaborate in person 2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub(s) where the team is based.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for an Atlassian Systems Engineer to join our People team. This role involves maintaining and expanding the existing corporate infrastructure and services at Grammarly. The person in this role will help improve our IT ecosystem by creating more integrations between cloud services and simplifying infrastructure and service maintenance. They will also be responsible for automating the main business processes to move closer to IT self-service, which in turn will improve employee satisfaction. The job holder will work closely with all teams at Grammarly, including Engineering, Security, IT, Platform, and others globally.

Your impact

As an Atlassian Systems Engineer, you will serve as the internal subject matter expert on implementing, managing, and supporting product offerings and plugins across the entire Atlassian suite of tools. 

Furthermore, In this role, you will:

  • Audit and implement suitable permissions schemas across JIRA/Confluence, including, but not limited to, the design, creation, and management of projects, spaces, custom workflows, custom fields, dashboards, add-ons, reports, and integration with other development tools.
  • Customize workflows for multiple projects and create custom fields, new issue types, workflow statuses, transitions, post-functions, field configurations, mandatory fields, and workflow schemes.
  • Support and manage integrations to external systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions for custom projects as needed to meet specific needs.
  • Work with business users to evaluate JIRA and Confluence plug-ins/apps, determine licensing needs, and perform testing, installation, and configuration of the plug-ins.
  • Develop and compile training materials based on business needs to assist employees and new hires on Atlassian regarding how to use the tools, new functionality, etc.
  • Identify gaps and implement Atlassian best practices to support a scaling company..
  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and advanced filters in JIRA/Confluence to provide end users and business leadership with meaningful operational/performance metrics and status reports.
  • Determine ways to optimize and improve Atlassian setup and process workflows and identify where functionality can or cannot meet user requests.
  • Provide user management, training, and support for Atlassian Suite.
  • Collaborate on problem resolution, team decisions, and project planning.

  • Can build Okta workflows and integrate them with corporate infrastructure and services.
  • Is Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash. 
  • Can read code, preferably Go.
  • Is skilled in establishing secure and effective network systems.
  • Has experience with corporate infrastructure and services, including Okta, Jamf, Atlassian product offerings, Azure, and AWS.
  • Is experienced with all Windows-related aspects of machines: patching, access, security, and performance.
  • Has experience with access management processes and automation of IT processes.

Grammarly takes a market-based approach to compensation, which means base pay may vary depending on your location. Our US and Canada locations are categorized into compensation zones based on each geographic region’s cost of labor index. Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future. 

United States: 
Zone 1: $138,000 – $169,000/year (USD)
Zone 2: $125,000 – $152,000/year (USD)
