Job Description

The Radiation Effects Associate Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing the radiation control plan for various programs.  This includes understanding component applications within a design and then determining, by test or data review, if each component meets program objectives and customer requirements.  The Radiation Effects Intern, under the guidance of a Radiation Effects Engineer, will assist in the development of a Python based update for rate calculation in a radiation software to support incorporation of newer statistical approaches from across the industry. This will require a deeper understanding of statistics and will require a skillset or development in additional mathematical concepts like discrete math solution (i.e. a fully statistical solution).  The individual should plan to spend several hours a week training with various members of the radiation team in Radiation Effects or with existing trainings to expand their Radiation Effects knowledge. Additionally, the individual needs to be able to both work alone and to work in collaborative groups to make sure the tool aligns with our final goal.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Statistical calculations, including a course completed in this area of specialty
  • Python or other programming course
  • Understanding of Physics concepts, including Circuits
  • Spreadsheet analysis
  • Part entries

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Learn the basics of long-term radiation damage of DDD (NIEL), TID, & ELDRS
  • Learn the basics of instantaneous radiation effects such as SEE & Dose Rate irradiation
  • Help debug and develop tools to further improve efficiency of parts analysis & data parsing
  • Follow SEAKR rules and regulations as documented in the SEAKR Employee Handbook and applicable operating procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Electrical Engineering Degree (or degree with equivalent experience), Physics, Nuclear Engineering, etc.
  • Understanding of basic electronics, basic programming (Python, Perl, C++, etc.)
  • Ability to put in overtime as needed.
  • Ability to travel at 10%.

Compensation: Base salary range is $25-30/hour depending on qualifications. This is a part time, hybrid position
