Associate People Business Partner

Vast is seeking an Associate People Business Partner to join the People Team, reporting to the Senior People Business Partner. The People Team at Vast upholds our core values of respect, curiosity, action, and excellence across our diverse teams and workforce spanning multiple locations.  This is a full-time, exempt position based at our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide operational support to the Senior People Business Partners supporting various teams across multiple locations
  • Collaborate with Senior People Business Partners to execute HR programs like performance management, employee engagement, talent management and organizational design
  • Facilitate the progress of a variety of HR projects in conjunction with the Senior People Business Partners
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure employee and business needs are met
  • Assist with the  development and implementation of new HR processes as required to grow the business
  • Research and keep current on HR industry trends including but not limited to areas such as employee engagement, retention, and other best practices
  • Model and reinforce our cultural values of being kind, smart, creative and curious
  • Coordinate all employee changes with Payroll and People Operations
  • Be first point of contact for leave of absence requests in partnership with People Operations
  • Support Senior People Business Partners and client groups on change management and communications efforts
  • Conduct Exit Interviews for client groups

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management or related field or equivalent years of experience
  • 2+ years experience in a human resources role
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to prioritize workload, demonstrate initiative, and manage competing priorities
  • HR experience in a tech start-up or high growth company
  • Experience supporting the deployment of HR systems and processes
  • Familiarity with core HR domains, including performance management, organizational design, talent management, compensation, and employee relations
  • Experience with people data analytics
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel at least once quarterly to our Mojave facility and as needed to our Hawthorne location
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones

Pay Range: 

  • Associate People Business Partner I: $70,700 - $100,500
  • People Business Partner II: $84,400 - $121,500

Base salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand. Salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package. The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls, and therefore, must either be a “U.S. person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing. This status includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), and asylees and refugees with such status granted, not pending.
