Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all.  We are searching for an Associate Manager, TX Operations based in Houston, Texas. They will be responsible for overseeing daily terminal operations, including team leadership, safety management, and performance optimization. This role involves leading a high-performing team, managing fleet health, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure operational efficiency and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will excel at implementing safety protocols, leading a team, and supporting strategic initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and mentor the operations team, managing performance, development, and fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Oversee terminal operations for assigned shift(s), ensuring safety, efficiency, and collaboration across teams.
  • Monitor and manage fleet health, start-up efficiency, operator performance, and testing priorities.
  • Liaise with Dispatch to manage incident responses and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Track key performance metrics, analyze trends, and implement data-driven improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams including Command Center, Fleet Operations, and Test Operations, and external teams to optimize processes and improve performance.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Communicate Aurora’s initiatives and programs to ensure team alignment and understanding of operational goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement in team productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Support the execution of key Aurora initiatives and strategic objectives within the operations team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of operations management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience managing schedules, vacation requests, quarterly planning, and setting performance goals for the team.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with experience in conflict management.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in terminal or logistics operations.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, managing performance and driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience managing incident responses and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Ability to track and analyze performance metrics and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and set clear objectives for the team.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with 5+ years of satisfactory driving history, in Aurora's discretion and as validated by an MVR check.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and extended hours including weekends.
  • Comfortable with travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management, safety protocols, and process optimization
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and experience with logistics or terminal management software
  • Prior experience in AV technology, logistics, and/or transportation
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Workday, Slack, Samsara, and/or Fleetio
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA policies and regulations
  • Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety and/or OSHA processes, policies, and regulations
  • Experience supporting or leading strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects
  • Certifications in safety or operations management

 

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $152,000 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
