Associate Director

Reporting directly to our Head of Products in Australia, you will be responsible for leading and managing accounts for organisations in the Consumer, Media and Financial Services supporting and developing a strong portfolio of clients and contributing to the wider YouGov Management team.

You will be supported by a team of researchers, as well by an expert in-house operations team.  Your direct team will grow as your business remit grows.

You will need excellent communication and people skills to build strong relationships with clients and your own team of researchers as well as advancing collaboration across the broader YouGov team in Australia.

The Products remit includes a large range of clients buying into YouGov’s syndicated research offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Account/Client Management

  • Use your extensive insights and research experience to develop comprehensive research reports and insights sessions with YouGov Clients.
  • Provide high level insights that address clients’ objectives and required outcomes.
  • Manage clients and relationships ensuring that everything is running smoothly and that a strategic view is taken of their business – independently for medium sized business, and jointly with the Head of Products for large sized business.
  • Develop ‘Account Plans’ for key clients.
  • Regular face-to-face interactions with clients to grow and develop a trusted advisor relationship.
  • Responsible for effective and efficient onboarding and integration of new clients.

Business Development

You will be responsible for helping to drive the commercials of the Australian Products team.  Your role will include:

  • Being a key lead in the management of client contract renewals; Ensuring contracts are renewed in a timely manner and are profitable.
  • Identifying growth opportunities within existing client base
  • Identifying at-risk clients and developing strategies to retain them.
  • Using your research skills and knowledge of YouGov products to propose additional work across the client base.
  • Attending ‘New Business’ (Sales) meetings to discuss usefulness of YouGov Data Product offerings to prospective clients.
  • Assisting in developing the business more broadly, cementing an enthusiastic and can-do culture along with a winning work ethic

Staff & Professional Development

  • Contribute to the professional development of all team members via on the job coaching and development of training materials.
  • Keep up to date with industry changes by reading industry newsletters, attending industry update meetings and other relevant activities.
  • You will manage a researcher, but as we grow and expand, your supporting team will also scale up in size and seniority to accommodate the growing needs of your remit. You will be coaching and mentoring them through key aspects including data analysis and report writing.
  • You will be responsible for performance management and helping your team develop and strengthen their research skills.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of market research experience in an agency with relevant knowledge and experience in consumer research.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively present research findings to senior audiences.
  • Advanced knowledge of quantitative methodologies, data analysis along with immaculate attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop a team of market research managers and executives.
  • Well-developed influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client responsibilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including effective resolution of project issues that come up from time to time with clients.
