About this team:
Deloitte New Zealand's Tax and Business Advisory team is a market leader and focuses on delivering value to small, medium, and large sized enterprises. We help our clients across New Zealand and beyond to realise their full potential and put them on a pathway to grow and succeed.
We are looking for a self-starter who is not only an established accountant, but who is also motivated by the opportunity to build their networks and create their own place in the market.

We work closely with businesses to develop a trusted advisor relationship through our personalised approach to deal with the individual and unique challenges facing Canterbury businesses today. Our role is to share knowledge and provide guidance, helping SME’s enterprises grow and succeed.
Your typical day will include:
· Building trusted relationships with client and potential clients
· Problem solving key accounting and tax issues for private businesses, advising clients on best practice accounting methodologies and business growth strategies
· Identifying and providing insightful recommendations to clients
· Being present and active in the market and creating opportunities to build relationships across a broad range of stakeholders
· Managing multiple jobs concurrently and facilitating teams to deliver quality services
· Being a role model for our people and clients and recognising others for the impact they make by their valued contributions
· Reviewing the work of junior team members, coaching and managing them to build their technical skills to effectively contribute to client deliverables and team success.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you. You are someone with:
· Sound accounting and advisory skills developed through 8+ years’ work experience in a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm, a corporate environment, or a mix of these
· CA (or similar) qualification
· Experience as a Finance Manager or CFO would be an added advantage
· Excellent communication skills, able to build rapport and connections quickly
· Strong presence and connection in the local market and a proven ability to identify opportunities, onboard clients and manage relationships
· Good problem-solving skills with an eye for detail – able to report on finding, draw insights and help develop tangible solutions
· Experience in the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with IRD standards and knowledge of Income tax, GST, PAYE etc
· A drive for excellence and a “can-do” attitude
· Coaching and mentoring experience in a successful team environment
· Experience using Xero and other Financial ERP/Business Systems with a passion for technology, system improvements, and implementations to maximise client efficiencies
