In addition to providing short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and mental health outreach services to enhance the psychological and emotional well-being of students and the College community, the Associate Director of Counseling is responsible for management and oversight of the training program consisting of graduate student interns and pre-licensure post-grad/pre-doc staff.
This is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $85,295 - $108,810 per year.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provides psychological counseling and crisis intervention for students, implements appropriate assessments and clinical interventions
- Provides oversight for the Counseling training program including training curriculum development and execution, standardized practices for supervision across all supervisors, clinical scheduling, intern recruitment and selection, and relationships with local graduate programs
- Facilitates and trains training program members in group workshops, therapy, and series to meet Counseling’s outreach goals
- Assesses, set goals, and builds relationships with campus community to maintain partnerships, reduce stigma, and increase help/service seeking
- Completes timely documentation in the EHR according to best practices and Counseling policies
- Facilitates skills and process trainings for students and employees as assigned
- Serves as a member of the Counseling leadership team with the Director and Senior Staff Counselor to receive and process risk management, referrals, confidentiality, and crisis management needs
- Participates in Counselor on-call rotation and determines participation level of post-grad/pre-doc staff

Requirements
- Clinical experience in supervision, counselor training, assessment, treatment planning, shared decision-making, and crisis response
- Demonstrated success in teaching and/or training staff in therapeutic modalities
- Demonstrated use of multicultural approaches to clinical care and proven record of successful work with clients and stakeholders from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds
- Commitment to addressing intersections of multiple identities and their related health outcomes
- Successful collaboration with clinical and administrative staff to support student success
- Strong knowledge of the social, psychological, and physical developmental stages of students
- 3-55-8 years of experience including provision of clinical services, safety assessments, group work, and staff supervision; preference for community, college health, or adolescent/young adult settings
- Master’s degree required in counseling, psychology, social work, education, or related clinical field with current, or eligible to obtain, Vermont licensure including supervision clearance
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity tools. Regularly moves about inside the office and requires regular cross-campus travel.
