Job summary
The Associate Director of Market Access for Medicaid and Government Payers (U.S.) will develop and manage strategic relationships with key decision-makers across state Medicaid programs and government payer organizations to support access, reimbursement, and coverage for our portfolio of innovative therapies. Working with stakeholders such as Medicaid directors, administrators, directors of pharmacy, Medical Directors, and policy leaders, this role will drive payer engagement strategies, negotiate contracts, and implement initiatives to secure coverage and reimbursement within Medicaid and government-funded plans.
This individual will monitor regulatory changes, Medicaid policy updates, and healthcare trends that influence payer coverage and reimbursement for innovative therapies. By staying informed on these developments, they will translate insights into actionable recommendations to refine and adapt market access strategies. Additionally, they will leverage data from multiple sources to identify opportunities for improving patient access, coverage, and reimbursement solutions, ensuring alignment with both organizational goals and payer expectations.
The Associate Director will work cross-functionally to support the execution of internal projects, collaborating with internal teams to align on market access goals and optimize patient access. This role is critical for advancing initiatives that address immediate access needs while also supporting long-term organizational objectives.
This role is ideal or candidates with a strong background in Medicaid or government payer systems, who are adept at navigating state-level policies and payer landscapes to enhance patient access.
Requirements
Key Elements and Responsibilities
Required knowledge
· Demonstrated expertise in Medicaid and government payer systems, including payer decision making for policy, coverage, reimbursement, and patient access for innovative therapies.
· Expert level understanding of coding and reimbursement process, specifically the medical benefit and inpatient infusion capabilities within Medicaid and government payer systems.
· Experience launching premium priced, rare disease products in the U.S. market, cell and gene therapy experience preferred.
· Over 7 years of progressive experience with national and regional account management within commercial (private) and government (public) payer systems, particularly state Medicaid.
· Experience negotiating and executing contracts with Medicaid programs and understanding of state-specific nuances, cell and gene therapy contracting experience preferred.
· In-depth understanding of disciplines critical for the successful commercialization of biotechnology (e.g., marketing, sales, market access, reimbursement, patient services).
· Proven ability to work independently and manage complex projects within tight timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced biotech start-up environment, effectively navigating a matrix organization and efficiently deploying with limited resources..
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of influencing key stakeholders and building strategic partnerships in the Medicaid and government payer space.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Policy, or a related field; MBA preferred.
