Associate Director - Growth Strategy and Planning

About the role

The role will lead the strategic planning, budgeting, alignment and forecasting of growth initiatives across Careem’s marketing ecosystem. This role focuses on aligning growth objectives with business priorities, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and creating data-driven frameworks to maximize the impact of growth marketing efforts.

 

What you'll do

Strategic Growth Planning

  • Develop and lead the planning of a comprehensive growth roadmap that aligns with business goals across multiple verticals,
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify high-impact growth opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on potential ROI, scalability, and alignment with company strategy.
  • Breakdown the corporate strategy into actionable operational plan and monthly governance

Financial and Commercial Management

  • Own the growth marketing budget by building robust financial models to allocate resources effectively across channels, verticals and initiatives.
  • Conduct commercial performance reviews, identifying trends and opportunities to improve key financial metrics such as CAC, CLTV, ARPU, OPU
  • Lead efforts to optimize unit economics, ensuring sustainable growth strategies that maximize profitability.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as the central point of coordination between marketing, finance, product, and vertical teams to ensure alignment of growth initiatives with broader business priorities.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on the progress of growth plans, budgets, and performance outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional planning sessions to ensure seamless execution of campaigns and initiatives

Scenario Planning and Risk Mitigation

  • Build contingency plans for growth initiatives, ensuring flexibility to adapt to changing market dynamics or internal constraints.
  • Proactively identify potential risks (e.g., budget overruns, campaign failures) and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of competitors' growth strategies and market trends to identify gaps and opportunities for differentiation

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Establish a culture of data fluency across teams by defining clear metrics, KPIs, and dashboards for growth initiatives.
  • Oversee the timely delivery of growth projects, managing dependencies and resolving bottlenecks to meet aggressive deadlines.

 

What you'll need

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in growth marketing, strategic planning, financial management or related roles within tech, e-commerce, or large Scale B2C startup (Food delivery, e-commerce)
  • Strong understanding of platform businesses and multi-vertical ecosystems
  • Well versed in financial modelling and budget management with experience in optimizing marketing ROI
  • Having strong commercial understanding of e-commerce/B2C business with strong understanding of growth metrics
  • Deep understanding of growth frameworks , marketing attribution models and experience in managing multi-channel campaigns
  • Proven track record of managing large budgets and delivering on financial goals.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
