Associate Creative Director, Events

Here at Media.Monks, we’re looking for a new Associate Creative Director to lead our fast-growing events team on the creative side. The events team facilitates small- to medium-scale events across all our tech clients, with 2D, digital comms, and swag ideation a focus. The ACD would act as the creative lead on all events, bridging the current gap between the events team, the client, creative, experiential, and motion teams that conceptualise and produce the events.

As such, that person would be responsible for the creative vision of the events team. Keeping the client informed of a specific vision from brief to delivery and having intimate knowledge of the creative teams available to bring that vision to life is a priority.

It’s a really exciting opportunity for the right person to take ownership of this part of our offering and propel it to the next level. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conceptualise, art direct and execute/manage the execution of the design of EMEA B2B events across multiple programs and marketing channels, bringing our client events to life
  • Collaborate with the events team to improve current virtual, hybrid, and, occasionally,
    In Real Life (IRL) event strategies. 
  • Identify and produce new ideas and concepts that deliver omnichannel events to support our clients’ goals
  • Take direction from group creative leadership
  • Work closely with ops team for project planning
  • Scoping, reviews, and oversight
  • Create and concept (design, moodboard) while bringing experiential ideas to life, occasionally through experience/engagement concepts and customer journeys
  • Have a good perspective of all dimensions of business strategy inside events design, with the ability to create tech concepts and turn them into innovative experiences
  • Hands-on expertise in developing and delivering creative concepts
  • Carry out occasional Senior Art Direction tasks, with UX experience a real plus
  • Creative leadership: getting the creatives together for interactive brainstorms and training sessions – help drive a culture of creativity that supports our team to do the most impactful and best work
  • Maintaining high-quality creative with a strong attention to detail, while operating in a fast-paced, iterative environment
  • Guiding XFN teams, and other agencies
  • Identify factors that lead to attendee satisfaction and the values that drive retention
  • Build internal relationships and engage key stakeholders across the business in operational priorities to bring our desired attendee experiences to life
  • Stay on the cutting edge of what’s new in design, identifying opportunities and experimenting with applying new methods and concepts to design problems
  • Grow the team’s best practices for design and event creative

Preferred qualifications/ experience you have: 

  • An online portfolio showing both concept and design-driven digital work, specifically in 2D/digital design and the B2B events realm
  • A track record of leading creative teams in a digital, experiential, events, or production agency (6-7+ years experience, 2+ years of leadership)
  • In-person and digital events experience preferable 
  • Solid understanding of UX principles and their applications across the web, email, and beyond
  • Mastery of digital design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma) for diverse formats (web, social, video, email, etc.)
  • Expert understanding of typography, illustration, and layout; making things look beautiful is second-nature
  • The ability to guide and mentor several teams at the same time, including other art directors and designers
  • Understanding and experience with 3D/spatial design and construction and ability to scamp/line draw ideas is a nice to have, but not essential
  • Experience storyboarding video and working with a motion graphics team
  • A portfolio of praise-worthy projects, showcasing your understanding of cultural trends and innovative technologies 
  • Outstanding presentation skills and proven ability to produce and pitch great strategic presentations to our clients 
  • Experience collaborating across Google Apps (ie. Slides, Docs, Sheets, Gmail)
