We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Property Surveyor to join our team based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,000-£50,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
 
About the role
 
As our Assistant Property Surveyor, you will provide a quality estates management service, across a portfolio of leasehold and freehold properties throughout the entire operating area of South West Water and Bristol Water. The Group’s portfolio predominantly comprises operational waste water and drinking water assets as well as offices, commercial, agricultural, and residential premises with a let portfolio generating a significant income. The main focus of the role is to optimise the commercial position of the Group’s property assets, and to provide the highest level of estates management advice and service to other departments.  

What you'll be doing:

  • Assisting the Property Manager with case work covering a wide range of Estates Management and Development duties across the Company’s occupational property portfolio including commercial, water, agricultural, and residential properties
  • Assisting the Property Manager with Estates Management duties including but not limited to: landlord and tenant work, lease renewals, rent review, landlord’s consent, dilapidations, valuation, licences, wayleaves, easements, inspection and measurement
  • Liaising with the Group’s legal advisors in respect of various property matters in order to agree terms and conditions, draft conveyances, leases, options and other property agreements
  • Verify and ensure invoices are correct and pass for payment. Liaison with the Finance Department, landlords and local authorities to make sure invoices are correct and paid at the correct time
  • Assisting with the preparation of a range of property valuations and site appraisals, identifying value creating opportunities for company assets.

What we are looking for:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • An understanding of the law, practice and principles relating to Estate Management, Valuation and Landlord and Tenant
  • A high level of attention to detail and visual accuracy
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills and ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders
  • Confident in use of Microsoft products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Ability to use GIS mapping software
  • Willing to travel nationwide and to stay away from home overnight as required
