Assistant Operations Manager

As an Assistant Operations Manager, you will work as a part of a cross-functional team, scoping, building, and delivering world-class products to add trust to employment related claims.

Certsy is an autonomous start-up that is rapidly growing, and comprises around ~80 software engineers, product managers, operations and commercial staff. We are headquartered in Melbourne, with another office in Sydney. This role is based in Sydney, but travel interstate is required from time to time.

We have a flexible working policy aiming for 2-3 days/week in your home office and this role does not have any direct reports. You will collaborate closely with squad members, the wider operations team, other sub-domain squad members, engineers, product managers and UX designers. You will also be working regularly with others outside Certsy, including various SEEK teams (product, customer service and go-to-market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a passionate, entrepreneurial team with big plans and a real sense of urgency
  • Act as part of a cross-functional squad leadership team, and work collaboratively to shape the vision, roadmap and OKRs for the squad
  • Manage the smooth operationalisation of new features, credentials or other launches including the planning, forecasting for volume and resource, and the preparation of training collateral and coordination with the Core Ops team
  • Leverage operational insights to influence prioritisation and decision-making of squad activities, and identify opportunities for operational optimisations and product improvements  
  • Embody Certsy’s purpose, principles and behaviours.

Requirements

  • An ability to collaborate across multiple functions and teams, and to build rapport, identify needs, deliver proposals, and influence stakeholders
  • Experience operationalising processes and scaling operations within a start-up environment
  • Strong level of comfort with ambiguity, driving progress through an agile test & learn approach
  • Exceptional judgement and decision-making skills, including an ability to prioritise the critical few things
  • Possess a customer-focused mindset, with excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to solve complex and detailed problems with a logical and data-driven approach.
