Assistant Manager - Publishing

Responsibilities

  • Peer review and monetize all Associates CMS work to identify and resolve formatting issues. Work with the Publishing Leads and Associates to ensure quality is as high as possible.

  • Responsible for implementing the monetization strategy for our site, working closely with the business development team and SEO specialists to optimise revenue opportunities and ensure alignment with overall business goals.

  • Stakeholder management of associated partnerships manager within your vertical. Ensuring that their Publishing requirements are understood and those are passed to the Publishing Leads. Ensure two-way communication with stakeholders, constructively challenging back when asks are not possible. Forecasting potential resource bottlenecks and escalating with team management.

  • SEO liaison – form close working relationships with relevant SEO and Editorial Managers to ensure Publishing and the other departments are working optimally in terms of resourcing and processes.

  • Test new features and components in the staging environment on behalf of the Publishing, ensuring they meet quality standards before release.

  • Wordpress expertise – Make changes to pages in different templates, components  using the CMS where required and train new team members when called upon.

  • Troubleshoot problems for SEO and Edit when called upon and call on senior management to resolve more complex issues.

  • Line management responsibilities, such as overseeing the development and performance of a group of team members. 

  • Reporting and content tracking where needed

 

Skills and Experience

We’re a team of 50+ so we need people who can work in an agile manner and juggle multiple priorities concurrently across many different product types.

CMS experience is crucial and we require three years plus experience of working in Wordpress, AEM or similar. Most of all, we’re looking for someone who enjoys using CMS’ and exploiting the opportunities they present to the business.

Line management experience is required and you will manage the day to day operations and development of a small team of Associates.

An understanding and interest in monetizing content. You must be comfortable working with others departments to identify these opportunities and take resulting action needed.

Development skills are not a must but an awareness of technologies such as HTML, CSS and Javascript is advantageous.

SEO knowledge is important and you must be able to talk comfortably with the SEO team about their needs.

Strong stakeholder management skills and a willingness to learn and help impart knowledge to others is essential.  

You must also be highly organized, ambitious and with an entrepreneurial spirit. 

Finally, quality is paramount in the content we produce so a high level of attention to detail is vital.
