About you
The assistant management accountant is the engine room of the Finance team. You will be responsible for making sure our financial records are as to date as possible, and our suppliers and employees are paid on time as we scale in the UK, US and ANZ in our mission to make cities smarter, safer and more sustainable.
Our Finance team provides the right information for the business to make the right decisions. We split our time between creating financial information through our accounting & control function, and business partnering with the whole company to achieve strategic and financial objectives. As the business scales and matures, our focus is increasingly on growing our financial performance and this role is a critical step in making that happen.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading on regular bookkeeping to record accounts payable in the general ledger (Xero)
- Working with Finance Manager and Finance Director in production of monthly management accounts, by supporting on fundamental monthly accounting
- Ownership of key business reconciliations including monthly bank reconciliations, stock reconciliations and sales CRM to customer project management software.
- Preparation of weekly pay runs to ensure timely supplier payments, especially over high value supplier relationships
- Working with our HR team, logging and communicating monthly payroll to 3rd party provider to ensure employees paid on time, with no mistakes
- Outside of these routine tasks, you will partner with key stakeholders in the business, such as our Stock purchasing team, to help them access financial information to inform their decision making process
What we're looking for
- A minimum of 2 years experience in similar roles. We do not need you to be qualified or part qualified
- High attention to detail and excellent organisation - you will be owning flows of key transactional financial information into the business
- Analytical skills - you will be working with numbers on a daily basis
- Curiosity in how the business works - you will be exposed to colleagues and teams across the business from Commercial to Technology, and it will help to understand different views and perspectives on the business
- Communication - you’ll need to be able to work effectively with different people of different backgrounds
