Assistant Management Accountant - 12 month FTC

The Role Objective

 

The main purpose of the role is to assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts for reporting to both GroupM management and WPP group (EMEA). The Assistant Management Accountant will update the rolling forecast and feed into the annual budgeting process through the application of Business Partnering skills. To be successful in this role, engagement with various parts of the business is required, often at different levels of seniority.

 

Responsibilities

 

Month-end process/ year-end & variance analysis

 

  •              Calculation of accruals & prepayments of costs, using IFRS principles. Prepare and post journals
  •              Assist in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts reconciled to TB
  •              Monthly variance analysis (by comparing to budget/forecast) and exception reporting.
  •              Sending of weekly Open purchase order reports for all areas of the P&L (IT costs, Commercial costs, Establishment costs, Personal costs etc.) to each of the PO requisitioners
  •              Work closely with the intercompany management accountant to reduce MIB/MIBA by sending data to all OpCo’s and following up with PO requests
  •              Review and approval of employee expenses on a weekly basis
  •              Supplier form reviews and approval for GMUK
  •              Preparation of monthly SOX folder
  •              Monthly & quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
  •              Action any queries post month-end, i.e. AP mis-posting etc.
  •              Assist with the SOX and year-end audit by providing all relevant information to the auditors
  •              Reconcile credit card statements for the Research team to ensure they are posted to the correct expense codes

 

 

Group / WPP reporting

 

  •              Liaise with EMEA to resolve reporting queries
  •              Submit commentaries to EMEA monthly
  •              Deal with EMEA’s new reporting requirements
  •              Prepare and submit quarterly packages
  •              Prepare and submit the year-end packages

 

 

 

Other and periodic

 

  •              Ensuring compliance with company policies and SOX requirements
  •              Continuously reviewing current processes and making improvements to allow better control or improved efficiencies
  •              New supplier form reviews
  •              Ad hoc projects as directed by FC/SFC
  •              Assisting AP team with coding of invoices
  •              Dealing with Finance Plus on ad hoc queries
