Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Secondary Mathematics is a key member of Mastery’s Math team and will strategically support Math programming network-wide by designing high-impact curricular materials, developing teachers and leaders to be effective in driving student achievement, and contributing to a high-performing team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of and an ability to hold an incredibly high bar for mathematics academic programming.
- Provide effective supports to teachers and Assistant Principals through strategic supports, including:
- Direct teacher coaching
- Direct Assistant Principal coaching
- Determining and facilitating effective teacher and Assistant Principal professional development
- Establishing model classrooms
- Coordinating cross-site collaboration (for teachers and assistant principals)
- Writing and vetting instructional materials and curricular resources for teachers, including formative assessments and unit plans.
- Designing and facilitating small and large group PD, particularly focused on specialized content knowledge, pedagogy, practice and execution.
- Analyze network-level student achievement data for mathematics and determining next steps.
- Contribute generatively to a high-functioning team.
- Supports with upcoming and ongoing curriculum adoption processes and contributes to facilitating strong change management with schools.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, teacher education, or related field
- Master’s degree strongly preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience: teaching, teacher coaching, professional development design/facilitation, and/or curriculum/Assessment writing
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to physically perform the essential duties of the role – either on-site or remotely, and to work in the environmental conditions required, such as: traveling to network campuses; maneuvering in office spaces (including standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, speaking loudly and clearly, seeing and hearing things both near and far away); stooping, kneeling, reaching file cabinets/shelves; fine finger and hand manipulation in use of computer, chalkboard, dry erase, &/or projectors; filing, faxing, scanning, coping, typing, mailing, and making phone calls; sitting for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse, and typing.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel when necessary.
