THE ROLE

Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will lead the accounting operations of the organization, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of a comprehensive system of accounting records, and oversight of internal controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with US GAAP and financial reporting standards. Alongside the Controller and CFO, this role will be an integral part of ensuring that the organization’s accounting function can scale and support growth and transformation, and will address complex financial matters/ processes, drive improvement, and collaborate with others within and outside of the Finance organization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines
  • Oversee and ensure that general ledger and subsidiaries ledgers are accurately and properly reconciled on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis
  • Review and analyze financial reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company objectives
  • Support month-end and year-end close process and update the monthly ME checklist 
  • Build strong relationships with internal global stakeholders
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud
  • Oversee the implementation and refinement of accounting systems and tools to optimize efficiency and accuracy Act as the primary resource for standing up new processes, driving process changes, and ensuring effective integration across departments to support organizational goals
  • Act as a key resource in developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams, providing guidance on processes, communication strategies, and best practices. Support cross-functional partners in navigating workflows and implementing improvements that benefit both the accounting team and other departments
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax filings, and financial reporting standards.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and reports
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems
  • Function as a liaison with external auditors to ensure timely issuance of year-end financial statements
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff, and provide career development planning and opportunities

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting
  • 5+ years experience in leading an accounting team and function
  • Public Accounting experience a plus 
  • Experience working for a manufacturer/CPG
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage a fast paced accounting department
  • Netsuite experience is preferred

COMPENSATION:

$140,000-$160,000 base salary + bonus
