General Summary:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for leading a global team of entry level to experienced professionals focused on assisting and verifying that all financial reporting processes are compliant with the applicable accounting framework, accurate, and delivered in a timely manner. This role supports the Finance department along with other stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results
- Typically manages a department or small unit that may include multiple teams
- Ensures a strong control environment is in place and operating effectively through effective policies, practices, and evaluation of performance on a continuous basis
- Researches and prepares accounting position papers on transaction-based, technical matters and/or implementation of new technical accounting guidance affecting the business
- Assists with establishing policies and procedures that are consistent with the company’s objectives and provides training to ensure their execution
- Influences others to accept practices and approaches
- Communicates and influences executive leadership
- Owns short to mid-term execution of functional strategy and the operational direction of the Accounting team
- Leads and prioritizes the daily activities of the team
- Manages, mentors, and coaches to develop a collaborative and dynamic team
- Coordinates cross-functional communication to align on initiatives and strategies to drive efficiency
- Reviews and analyzes the consolidated financial results and position of the Company as well as implementing corrections or improvements when required
- Assists with providing oversight, communication, and direction for technical accounting matters to the overall organization
- Monitors compliance and implements improvements when needed
- Meets finance operational standards by contributing information to forecasts and reviews, analyzing financial information, implementing process efficiencies, and identifying and implementing systems and automation improvement
- Assist Controller as contact for external auditors to facilitate the audit process and ensure financial statement are in accordance with GAAP

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Excellent written, analytical, problem-solving, verbal, listening, presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel
- Strong leadership and relationship-building capabilities, including the ability to lead/influence those not directly reporting to this role
- Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Highly motivated, initiative-driven and self-directed
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience to include both public and private accounting
- 3+ years of managerial experience with direct reports
- Preferred: CPA
Working Conditions:
- Onsite/Hybrid in Tampa, FL
- 0-10% travel may be required
