We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for an Asset Performance Technician to join our team working in Plymouth. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,841- £29,000 per annum in line with company progression scheme plus standby & overtime opportunities.
 
About the role:
In this role you will monitor the performance of Drinking Water Services assets through regular data collection, assessment and analysis. To assist in the design and delivery of planned maintenance programmes and capital improvements across the DWS Network asset base. To identify and promote improvements to ensure that the water supply network delivers a reliable and efficient service to meet our customer needs in line with our business objectives.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitor the performance of Drinking Water Service assets and regularly review asset maintenance plans. Identify where asset improvements/investments are required and to prepare and submit the necessary ‘Investment Manager’ funding applications.
  • Health and safety is paramount, ensure all asset works are safely undertaken, with the welfare and health the top priority. Ensure that Health and Safety policies and standards are adhered to at all times and the companies Homesafe principles and procedures runs through everything you do
  • Ensure adequate resource availability always to facilitate delivery of asset schemes
  • Provide a supervisory role to the Network Maintenance technicians, plan and schedule daily work and liaise regularly with the Network Asset Manager to provide timely updates on work stream progress.
  • Maintain corporate records relating to SR cleaning, DOMS programme, Pressure Management.
  • Completion of complex RAMS documents for network activities, inc trunk main repairs, installations and SR cleaning.
  • Work closely with the planning team regarding field staff levels required to meet peaks and troughs.
  • Ensure operational activities comply with requirements of New Roads and Streetworks Act, Traffic Management Act and in particular the transition to Permits in the region.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure work is carried out with minimum impact, including but not limited to: Developers, Alliance partners, The Environment Agency, DWI, Highway Authorities, local Councils, community groups, businesses and customer groups
  • Work closely with all direct and indirect elements of the Alliance scope
  • Support the delivery of all ODI targets through careful management of resource and targeted completion of specific activities.
  • Work with the Network Asset Manager to plan and organisation of all resources in the operational area.  Coordination of working methods, resources and systems to meet outcome requirements.
  • Ensure best practice is employed and shared through Alliance with other managers and technical experts across the company.
  • Liaise with the Asset Management Team, Central Supply Team and third-party suppliers to develop a programme of work to deliver the company’s strategic revenue and capital maintenance programmes.
  • Provide key support to the Drinking Water Services function in the event of emergencies.
  • Maintain at all times, excellent relations with customers, public authorities, other bodies and work colleagues.
  • Deputise for the Network Asset Manager at as requested/required
  • To undertake any other reasonable tasks at locations as required to support DWS and the company vision.
  • Participate in DWS Network standby duties as defined
  • Desire to achieve top of the DWS N&CS progression scheme and associated vocational qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • 5 GCSEs at grades A-C or equivalent in Maths, English and a Science subject; or IOSH/NEBOSH Health & Safety Qualifications (or ability to achieve)
  • Relevant experience in, Water Distribution operation and management
  • Technical understanding of water network operations, maintenance and improvement and hydraulics within water distribution systems
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems such as MS Office, corporate systems and external portals.
  • Surveying skills to be able to assess street work requirements and asset improvements.
  • Map/plan reading skills to be able to interpret complex information in schematic form
  • Resilient and adaptable to change, has the ability to change plans and turn attention to high priorities.
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
