Asset Mechanical Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the heart of our Grangemouth Manufacturing operations. In this role you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the Manufacturing Plant runs with unwavering safety, peak reliability, and optimal cost-efficiency. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement, balancing cutting-edge performance with stringent safety standards and fiscal responsibility. Responsibilities include:

  • Owning and delivering the maintenance strategy for our chemical manufacturing plant, ensuring seamless operations and compliance with industry standards.
  • Being the technical lead for mechanical issues on plant, providing support to the maintenance team for equipment maintenance or breakdowns.
  • Leading continous improvement initiatives on plant to improve reliability, root cause analysis, defect elimination and reduce plant downtime.
  • Outage / Turnaround Manager for asset annual shutdown.
  • Understanding asset condition and identifying where capital investment is required to ensure continued safe operation – sustenance report ownership.
  • Being the Capital Project Asset Engineering representative.
  • Engineering maintenance budget management, analyse spend and implement cost improvement initiatives.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
  • Extensive experience in Chemical, Oil & Gas, Production related industries.
  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical equipment such as pumps, vessels, piping
  • Familiarity with relevant industry legislation and standards.
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
  • Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing certification

Syngenta's Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre is one of our two award-winning manufacturing sites in the UK. The site was founded in 1919 and today employs nearly 400 skilled people in a variety of roles that include manufacturing, engineering, scientific and production support. Our goal is to operate “safely, reliably and cost effectively” and to help growers protect their crops and increase their yield. 

At Syngenta Grangemouth we have four plants dedicated to active ingredient (AI) manufacture, and one finished product formulation and packaging plant with the most recent facility opening in May 2010.
