Program/Contract Specific InformationWe design assessments for clients to support their internal hiring process. Questions are focused on topics covering data analysis, financial modeling, and trading algorithms. This assessment will be designed for individuals who are experts in the field of mathematics, statistics, economics, and finance, demonstrating a keen interest in advanced quantitative research. The goal of the assessment will be to identify top-tier candidates with the skills and knowledge needed to analyze substantial datasets. The assessment writer will design questions with this goal in mind, ensuring the client’s candidates will be tested on their skills for analyzing large datasets and ability to employ techniques from diverse branches of applied mathematics and statistics to develop sophisticated models for financial markets. This is a part-time, contract opportunity. This contract will start at the end of April. You can anticipate 5-10 hours of work per week. There will be cycles of heavy work, with cycles of downtime while your work is reviewed.

A day in the life (task and responsibilities)

  • Create assessment questions encompassing various question types and difficulty levels that are reflective of the given Mathematical and Statistical concepts and their practical applications in professional financial and trading settings.
  • Responsible for ensuring the assessment can be used as a tool to evaluate the job candidates’ skills, knowledge, and abilities. Assessment results should indicate a candidate’s ability to succeed in the job. 
  • Ensure all questions align with the specific job requirements, client goals, and  Correlation One’s content quality principles (questions are effective, engaging, and inclusive).
  • Ensure all questions are clear, answerable, have reasonable distractors if multiple choice, and are accurate. Provide step-by-step solutions to each question.  
  • Iteratively refine assessments based on constructive feedback, ensuring a continuous improvement cycle and maintaining a high standard of quality and relevance.
  • Review and provide feedback on questions not authored by you. 
  • Uphold exceptional communication throughout the duration of the project, providing regular updates on your work. 

Your expertise (qualifications)

  • Master’s or higher degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
  • Over 3 years of industry experience in the quantitative trading, quantitative research, or finance sector in a data-oriented role, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the respective industry's operations and challenges.
  • 2 years of assessment writing experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for applying data-driven approaches to real-world problems
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
  • Proficiency in the following topics 
    • Statistics 
    • Algorithms
    • Classical probability
    • Information processing 
    • Linear algebra
    • Permutations and combinations
    • Brain teasers (more akin to algorithms)
    • Statistical processes 
    • Statistical modeling 
    • Logical reasoning

Where you are

  • This role is remote and can be located anywhere that is compatible with the EST time zone. We are headquartered in New York City and have office space in Midtown Manhattan.

Compensation

An estimation of the range for this position is $45-$65/hr.
