We are currently seeking a Laboratory Analyst - ASBESTOS (mid level) to join our Christchurch team on a permanent full time basis. The main focus of this role is to work in our laboratory operations, with a focus on maintaining our site's laboratory accreditations and participating in quality assurance improvements.
Key responsibilities of this position will include:
- Undertake bulk identification, asbestos in soil analysis (both P/A and S/Q) and fibre counting in the laboratory.
- Ensure equipment and compliance systems are maintained in accordance with ISO standard.
- Adhere to the conditions of ISO17025:2018 at all times.
- Provide assistant with technical and quality tasks.
- Act as training mentor for internal staff
- Participate in internal and third-party proficiency testing programs and ensure satisfactory results are achieved.
Qualifications and experience
- Tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent qualification; or equivalent experience.

Must have experience analysising asbestos materials - bulk, fibre counting and soil analysis.
- At least two year’s laboratory experience; experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage.
- Attention to detail, and proficient computer skills are essential
- Good knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
- Strong commitment to safety and a desire to continually learn and improve
- Candidates who have previously worked as Key Technical Persons (KTPs) for asbestos analytical methods will be highly regarded.
- Candidates who have qualifications/experience asbestos consultants will be highly regarded
