Role overview

We are currently looking for an Art Director to join our expanding creative team. Reporting to the Associate Creative Directors and Creative Directors, the Art Director will collaborate to define the design aesthetic for each campaign, starting from the RFP phase through to awarded campaigns. The role will involve designing and guiding the visual direction of graphic assets, ensuring consistency across all materials for pitches and proposals. The Art Director will lead a creative team focused on delivering high-quality creative solutions and will play a key role in shaping the overall creative pitch process.

What are we looking for? Our Art Director has a knack for the following skills:

Communication:

  • Collaborates with Creative Directors, project managers, strategists, and supervisors to deliver insightful creative ideas for brand clients and pitch decks, ensuring a clear design point of view and deep understanding of the brand or title.
  • Attends all pitch meetings, brainstorms, and briefs to align with strategists for each new brand proposal.
  • Acts as a client resource and provides solutions for design-related issues.
  • Partners with the Creative Director to review pitch creative & collect and address feedback.

Analytics:

  • Analyzes client feedback, design performance, and campaign metrics to refine creative strategies, ensuring that the design meets client expectations and campaign goals. 
  • Uses data to guide design decisions and optimize future creative outputs.

Leadership:

  • Leads creative ideation and execution for DMM’s clients, as well as setting the look and feel for campaigns.
  • Manages the creative aesthetic and leads a team of designers, AV editors, and motion designers who will help produce and deliver consistent creatives throughout the entirety of the campaign.
  • Manages appointed creative team members (when applicable), and guides them as they create assets, and navigate through issues that arise, making sure design goals are aligned with clients.
  • Solves any and all design problems independently or with the help of the Associate Creative Directors or VP of Creative.
  • Sets the quality bar within the team, and ensures that all creative assets meet or exceed standard.

Business:

  • Creates mood boards, typeface suggestions, and design briefs outlining creative look and feel for each new project proposal, according to the business needs.

You'd be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Experience working with entertainment brands within a social-focused agency.
  • Proficient in Mac OS and Adobe Creative Cloud apps, including After Effects, Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, along with familiarity in 3rd-party software.
  • 2+ years of art direction experience in an agency setting.
  • 2+ years of experience in both motion and static design.
  • Experience with creating moving visuals and animations for various media, using software and techniques to bring creative assets to life
  • Proven track record working on pitches and proposals.
  • Collaborative experience working with project managers, art/creative directors, and other creative team members.
  • Knowledge of Cinema 4D is a plus.
  • Availability to work between 9am and 6pm PST with flexibility for routine weekend coverage
