This position is Barcelona-based (hybrid model).

Team

Our Gaming team is made up of hybrid-casual, casual, and mid-core experts. Our 'Core' games team supports internal and external studios worldwide in creating, developing, and launching new hit games, whilst our 'Live' games team focuses on delivering higher engagement on our existing and successful games.

Joining our Live games team means collaborating with gaming industry experts on globally renowned, enduring games while embracing exciting new entrepreneurial ventures. With over seven billion downloads worldwide and a portfolio of more than 10 resilient hybrid games generating more than $20m per year, we are the world's largest and most successful hybrid publisher.


As part of our product strategy, we are excited to expand beyond the hyper casual and hybrid casual markets into the casual Match-3 space. Our mission is to release the next $1B Match 3 game, pioneering the next generation in this category.

Role

As the Art Director for our new mobile match 3 game studio, you will be responsible for establishing and executing the artistic vision of the game. You will lead a team of artists and collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product managers to create a visually cohesive and appealing game. Your role will involve setting the visual style, ensuring high-quality art production, and driving the overall aesthetic experience of the game.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
  • Hire, lead and manage a team of artists, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define the artistic vision and project milestones.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality art assets.

  • Artistic Vision and Execution:
  • Establish the visual style and aesthetic for the match 3 game.
  • Oversee the creation of concept art, character designs, environments, UI, and animations.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of art assets throughout the game.

  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with designers and engineers to integrate art assets seamlessly.
  • Communicate artistic concepts and guidelines clearly to the team.
  • Provide constructive feedback and iterate on art assets to achieve the desired visual quality.

  • Innovation and Creativity:
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and artistic techniques.
  • Innovate and implement new visual features to enhance the gameplay experience.
  • Foster a creative and inspiring work environment for the art team.

  • Project Management:
  • Assist in project planning and resource allocation for the new studio.
  • Track progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Profile

  • Hands-on artist with extensive experience in art direction within the mobile gaming industry. 
  • Proven track record of successful projects and expertise in setting up the art direction for New Games (at least 3 years of experience) 
  • Bonus: Experience working on successful Match 3 games within a LiveOps environment. 
  • Mastery of Photoshop and Unity, with a deep understanding of their application in game development.
  • Blender (or equivalent 3D software) knowledge is a plus. 
  • Strong technical acumen to optimize assets and workflows for mobile platforms, ensuring efficiency and high performance.
  • Solid artistic foundations with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering visually stunning games.
  • A collaborative leader, skilled in fostering teamwork and communication, adept at giving and receiving feedback to drive creative excellence.
  • Passionate about the mobile games market, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and a commitment to leveraging insights for game improvement.
  • Proactive self-starter capable of influencing game design from the art side, including product and feature development, ensuring visual elements enhance the overall gaming experience.
  • Independent and proactive individual, adept at driving projects and initiatives with minimal supervision.
