Area Manager - Community and Environmental Equity

The Area Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of CORE’s community programs focused on improving public health, strengthening resiliency, and promoting green initiatives throughout California. The Area Manager will work collaboratively with the Area Director, CORE senior management, and associated Program Managers and personnel to define program goals, includingidentifying and applying for funding for future programming.  
 
Note: This is a grant funded position, with guaranteed funding until July 1, 2025. Continuity in the role will depend on the candidate’s performance and the collective efforts of the Area Manager and organizational leadership to secure additional funding

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee strategic planning and implementation of programs and activities in accordance with program goals and mission of the organization. 
  • Collaborate with other departments, leaders across the organization and other partners in the development and administration of the program. 
  • Creates and fosters a collaborative and positive relationship building dynamic with internal staff and external agencies/ organizations. 
  • Identifies growth opportunities and further efficiencies that impact the program success and aids in the development of strategic plans to achieve objectives. 
  • Serves as subject matter expert for the organization. 
  • Responsible for developing and implementing any applicable education, training, on-boarding and/or mentorship of staff. 
  • Responsible for planning and managing program fiscal budgets and financials. 
  • Ensures compliance with grant guidelines, local, state, and federal laws. 
  • Maintains staff and program compliance with organizational policies and procedures. 
  • Researches, gathers, organizes, summarizes data for evaluating performances of program or other program operations. 
  • Develop, evaluate, recommend and implement procedures for data collection, management, and quality control. 
  • May analyze data for trends or conclusions and presents results and recommendations to senior leadership. 
  • Liaise with community partners and funders. 
  • Identify and pursue operational and funding partnership opportunities with local and state governments, private and non-profit sectors and maintain current partnership relations and communication. 
  • Perform any other work-related duties if applicable.

Scope and Travel:

  • Direct Reports:Program Managers (2) 
  • Indirect Reports:Program Coordinators 

  • Travel:Travel within Los Angeles and Alameda Counties, with additional travel throughout the state for events and meetings 

Qualifications:

  • Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health,Psychology, Community Health, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Environmental Science,Environmental Studies, Life Sciences, or relevant fields.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health,Psychology, Community Health, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Life Sciences, or relevant fields. 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience 
  • Minimum 3 years program management with supervisory experience (required) 
  • Demonstrated experience crafting and monitoring grant funded program budgets (required) 
  • Familiarity with community-based organizations 
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership abilities 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent analytical skills, observation, and analysis capacity 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (including MS Word, Excel, and SharePoint) 
  • Work proactively with little supervision 
  • Flexible and adaptive to a frequently changing environment 
  • Strong project managementand organizational skills 
  • Close attention to detail and a high levelof accuracy 
  • Bilingual in Spanish or another language preferable
