About the Role:
We currently have an exciting vacancy for someone who is as passionate about our history as we are.
We are seeking to recruit an Archive Assistant to work with our photographic collection based in the Aberdeen Central Library. Working as part of a small team, you will play a key role in helping both internal and external users make use of the photographic and newspaper archive collections, while also supporting editorial content across our newspapers.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Responding to enquiries from DC Thomson staff and the public
Making records available to users in appropriate formats e.g., hard copy, digital surrogates via scanning, etc. in response to enquiries
Helping and supervising visitors in using archives
Assisting with the processing of archives through cataloguing, indexing and inputting information into databases
The Ideal Candidate:
Applicants should have a good standard of education and excellent attention to detail. It is essential that you have strong IT skills including familiarity with basic image editing. Experience of undertaking research and using archive materials would be an advantage.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week, mainly from Aberdeen Central Library with occasional working from our Marischal Square Office.
