Application Support Engineer

On behalf of our client, one the leading companies in payments solutions with customers in multiple sectors, we are currently looking for a self-driven Application Support Engineer, to join its team in Athens.

A day in the life of an Application Support Engineer

You will be expected to contribute with acumen and expertise in designing, implementing and maintaining our production through secure practices and innovative and efficient methodologies.

Your day-to-day

  • Possessing specialist knowledge of operating systems, devices, applications and software
  • Providing technical support to teams within the organization
  • Managing ticketed query system and ensuring comprehensive database of queries and resolutions is kept up to date
  • Maintaining and updating technical documents and procedures
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues
  • Ensuring effective front-end and back-end functionality of applications
  • Consulting with the software development team, internal users, and clients to improve application performance
  • Establishing the root causes of application errors, and escalating serious concerns to Senior Engineers
  • Documenting processes and monitoring application performance metrics
  • Act for any technical day-to-day issues
  • Be the escalation point for our 2nd level support
  • Ensure secure and efficient operations by following design principles and leveraging development methodologies

Requirements

  • BSc degree in Computer Science or any relevant field
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to explain complex ideas to those with limited IT and systems knowledge
  • Adequate system administration knowledge of Linux and FreeBSD Platforms
  • Knowledge of application monitoring tools such as Grafana, Kibana, GreyLog
  • Good knowledge of application servers such as Apache Tomcat, Apache Web Server
  • Good Knowledge of MySQL
  • Familiarity with SSL certificates
  • Knowledge of programming languages is considered a plus
