Application Engineer

Full-Time

The Application Engineer is primarily a SSD Engineer/Developer.

As a SSD Customer Engineer (CE) you will have 4 main functions:
(1) Qualify new SSD products into target customer platforms.
(2) Support target customers with demand generation, e.g., sales training, joint end-user visits, customer conferences, etc.
(3) Partner with target customers to architect next gen platforms that align with SSD product roadmap.
(4) Drive product issues to closure as primary point of contact for target customers.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working with customers to manage Intel SSD qualification requirements, driving technical design-in/-win, and debug hardware, firmware and other platform-related barriers to adoption.
  • Interfacing with customers and internal platform partners to resolve product issues and leverage those learnings to shape future SSD
  • product definition. This customer facing role evangelizes technical benefits of SSDs at the platform level; creates preference for Intel SSDs
  • within the platform; enables customer and end-user adoption of Intel solutions; and supports ecosystem and tools enabling to drive SSD adoption.
  • Executing technical product qualifications
  • Creating customer-specific competitive analyses
  • Conducting end-user visits with OEM/ODM partners
  • Developing and presenting technical product content
  • Advocating technical customer needs to internal stakeholders
  • Driving internal teams to deliver to customer expectations
  • Working with the sales team to resolve technical questions
  • Participates in customers meetings and presentations, acting as technical adviser, consultant, analyst, and program manager for customer
  • technical interactions
  • Responds to/supports customer requests or events as they occur, develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgment.
  • The CE will work closely with customers and partners to establish strong relationships that deliver results meeting NSG's business objectives
  • in the data center/enterprise segments.
  • Ability to summarize technical concepts, create collateral and deliver top-ranked technical training to both small and large audiences of
  • technical domain experts.

 

This position involves business travel depending on the assigned customer(s), approximately 30-40 percent.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 3 years work experience with knowledge of configuring, optimizing, and testing server, storage system, or other complex system products.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with suppliers and/or customers to clarify requirements, manage expectations, and resolve complex engineering or customer engagement challenges.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Compute and/or Storage System hardware and/or software using both Windows and Linux based operating systems in the data center/enterprise.
  • At least 3 years of experience with HDD/SSD systems/protocols and/or SAS/SATA/PCIe (NVMe).
  • At least 3 years of experience with debugging Platform/System issues that may be hardware, firmware, driver, BIOS, and/or application related.
  • At least 1 year of experience as program manager for multiple programs.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Datacenter architecture and interfaces, PCIe Switches, RAID controllers, HBAs, Expanders, and JBODs/JBOFs.
  • Microsoft and Linux datacenter OS debug experience.
  • Knowledge of SSD hardware and firmware architecture.
