API Engineer

As an API Engineer in Sportradar you will be part of Sportradar's a brand-new international team that has the mandate to develop an Enterprise API platform.​​​​​​

As an API Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the API platform of the future. Working closely with Product and Engineering teams, you will help drive the transition to a scalable, decoupled, API-driven architecture. Along the way, you will evangelize modern API best practices and ensure that the software developed is of the highest quality. 

THE CHALLANGE:

  • Building a new API platform from the bottom up. This will involve both new components and integration to existing components
  • Partnering directly with Engineering teams, assisting them to decouple from shared databases and rebuild their systems based on modern API principles
  • Playing a key role in raising awareness and supporting adoption of industry best practice and emerging trends, particularly relating to API development and application integration

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Hands-on experience of RESTful web services and developing Web APIs and supporting technologies and practices
  • Programming experience with one or more of Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript 
  • Proficient working with Relational Databases and querying with SQL 
  • Working experience with a clous technology (AWS preferred) 
  • Knowledge of software engineering agile methodologies and SDLC approaches including domain-driven design, trunk-based development, test-driven development, acceptance test-driven development, and consumer-driven contract testing
  • As a strong bonus pint we would consider development experience with a range of items from (Securing APIs with OAuth and JWT, Consumer Driven Contract Testing, Machine readable documentation such as OpenAPI and AsyncAP, API linting tools, API Gateways,  Developing asynchronous integration between services,  Streaming architectures with Kafka and Flink, Microservices Architectures, Implementing API observability, NoSQL databases and distributed caches, Data Catalogs)
  • Good oral and written presentation skills in English
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to partner and influence change across teams.
