We are looking for an ANALYST / CONSULTANT to join our Energy Team in AFRY Management Consulting in Vantaa, Finland. In this position, you will have a unique opportunity to make your contribution to the energy transition by supporting private and public organisations in the transition towards more sustainable, flexible, and interconnected energy system.

Our team consists of over 30 supportive colleagues who boost your development and are curious about your ideas. Some examples of work include strategic advice for energy companies and large-scale energy users in energy transition, renewables and battery project assessments, P2X project and business model analysis, commercial Due Diligence projects in the energy sector and assessments of the future of district heating and energy services in the decarbonization of the energy system. We also work closely with our Management Consulting colleagues internationally providing clients with a long-term view to the future of energy markets.  

As an Analyst / Consultant, your work tasks include working in client projects within energy field with varying scope and responsibilities, such as:

  • Techno-economic analysis e.g. cost and operations analysis of different energy assets
  • Financial analysis e.g. cash flow modelling
  • Market research e.g. interviews, data analysis and scenario modelling
  • Regulatory analysis e.g. policy analysis at Nordic and European level
  • Energy market analysis and modelling using our proprietary modelling software
  • Sustainable solutions and decarbonization of the energy system
  • Participating in client meetings, often presenting the part of the work which you have been responsible for, and sometimes working side-by-side with clients
  • Possibility to lead workstreams in projects

Your main location will be Vantaa.

You are willing to take a task on your own initiative and be in charge of delivering high quality results. You are comfortable with complex problems and can break them down and solve through quantitative and qualitative analysis.

In order to succeed in this role, you have:

  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills and excellent command of MS Office tools (mainly Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Superb teamwork capabilities and ability to work collaboratively in a team of both local and international colleagues
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in a concise and meaningful way verbally, visually and in writing
  • High motivation, willingness to work outside your comfort zone and ability to work independently
  • A strong interest in energy systems and energy economics and a drive to pursue a career in management consulting
  • Relevant university degree (preferably M.Sc. Technical or Business)
  • Full fluency in English (oral and written) and Finnish, other languages are an advantage

In addition, the following skills can be of an advantage: 

  • Knowledge of district heating and heat markets besides other energy market topics
  • Knowledge of other analytical tools, such as programming skills in especially Python and ability to be able to develop bespoke models, e.g. dispatch models 

In addition, we appreciate working experience in the energy industry, management consulting, or other relevant areas such as strategic analysis, investments, financial analysis, due diligence, etc. For a consultant role, we expect at least 2 years working experience from relevant industry.
