9-month contract with the potential to extend. Full Time position
Location – Abuja, Nigeria with travel across Nigeria
Salary – Up to £45,000 per annum. This is inclusive of country specific packages (shared accommodation, living overseas allowance, food allowance)

The HALO Trust is a leading humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives and rebuilding communities affected by the devastating consequences of conflict. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ammunition Technical Specialist (ATS) to support our Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) projects in Nigeria. The ATS will play a pivotal role in providing technical expertise to HALO projects across Nigeria, contributing to our mission of reducing human suffering caused by armed violence.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Project Manager Nigeria, the ATS will provide technical support to HALO Nigeria’s operations, including the planning and delivery of Weapons and Ammunition Management activities in Nigeria. The ATS will ensure technical delivery are implemented in accordance with the International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATGs) and other international standards (MOSAIC, IMAS) as well as with HALO’s policies and mandate.
This role includes a significant assessments, training and development component, and, as such, requires someone with proven experience in assessing explosive ordnance mitigation capacity of security forces, designing and delivering ammunition training courses to a high technical standard.
Key Responsibilities
General
· Provide technical support to the program at the direction of the project manager
· Ensure that standards are maintained across all operational activities and events
· Ensure all ammunition assessment, disposal, transport and other activities are conducted safely, and appropriate risk assessments are carried out
· Be prepared to provide general assistance to management team: with training courses, covering colleagues’ absences, or other activities as directed by the Project Manager.
