Product 

The AFC Solid Fuel process, invented by 8 Rivers, is a revolutionary clean energy solution, advancing power generation by enabling the environmentally friendly use of solid fuels. Leveraging the Allam-Fetvedt Cycle renowned for its zero-emission power generation and carbon capture capabilities, this technology tackles environmental concerns linked with traditional solid fuel usage. Its solid fuel variant broadens its application, offering efficient and eco-friendly solutions for industries reliant on solid fuels for power generation. 

The Role 

As VP of Product Development for AFC-Solid Fuels Technology, you'll spearhead our zero-emissions technology portfolio, supporting clients' needs in achieving net-zero goals. Collaborating closely with the Innovation team, you'll lead the creation of a product family to advance our top-tier net-zero solutions. Essential to this role is seamless coordination across our organization to meet stakeholder expectations. Thriving in a dynamic, innovative setting, you'll leverage strong communication, negotiation, and management skills. 

Responsibilities 

  • Develop, lead, and manage a multidisciplinary technical team for the delivery of the AFC-SF product from concept thorough deployment, ensuring they are market-leading and maximize value for the company and clients. 
  • Define the product vision, strategy, and business plan based on client requirements and market demand. 
  • Own the product roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the product’s purpose and remains a working document as market trends change. 
  • Collaborate across the business to ensure all aspects of the product meet or exceed the product development timeline. 
  • Conduct continual market research to keep our products competitive and aligned with the company’s strategic success. 
  • Hold responsibility for the product program budget, ensuring robust development stage gates are in place to manage resources, cost, risk, and schedule. 
  • Ensure effective, proactive, and open communication for transparency and clarity of product goals, progress, and issues across the business. 
  • Develop and implement a continuous improvement program, driving improvements in the product family based on market feedback and further innovation. 
  • Promote thought leadership for new ideas, products, or initiatives beneficial to the company and clients. 
  • Develop strategic relationships with key suppliers and industry partners. 
  • Develop solutions to quality issues and implement processes and systems to prevent recurrence. 
  • Travel globally to manage clients or partner relationships, as required. 
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members. 

Essential Skillset, Education/Qualification, Certification Attainment  

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field. 
  • 15+ years of experience in product and/ or technology development or a similar role in an innovation or technology-led organization with progressive leadership experience 
  • 10+ years of experience in product portfolio management.  
  • IGCC power generation experience required, Solids handling, Gasification or Acid Gas Treatment experience will be a plus. 
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to structure work, inspire performance, foster high performance teams, use/share information, lead cross-functional disciplines and facilitate change. 
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and market conditions, with a flexible approach to problem-solving and decision-making. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to a wide variety of technical and non-technical individuals or groups at all levels of the organization. 
  • Ability to work well with others at all organizational levels, to organize and prioritize, and to participate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Advanced knowledge of product development methodologies, with the ability to handle broad complex and unstructured tasks while maintaining a strategic focus. 
  • Ability to establish product roadmaps, develop and implement strategic goals, and improve business processes and delivery capability. 
  • Understanding of business implications, project interdependencies, and system interfaces. 
  • Able to travel internationally as required.
