Overview  

In our continuous pursuit of excellence, we are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Gasifier Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to contribute to crucial activities such as vendor approach, gasifier evaluation, technical reviews, and operational cases assessments. This role will significantly support AFC Solid Fuels projects, as well as Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and pre-FEED activities. 

 Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to assess and recommend gasifier technologies suitable for AFC Solid Fuel projects. 
  • Conduct comprehensive technical reviews and evaluations of different types of gasifiers to determine their compatibility with project requirements. 
  • Analyze and assess potential operation cases for gasifier applications, providing insights to enhance project efficiency and performance. 
  • Actively participate in pre-FEED, FEED and design activities, to integrate gasification into the overall process. 
  • Oversee engineering activities related to gasifier design, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations. 
  • Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in gasifier design, construction, and startup processes, staying abreast of industry advancements and emerging technologies. 
  • Provide technical direction and engineering support during construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.  
  • Produce, review, and approve design specifications, data sheets, and other engineering design project documents. 
  • Work with internal departments such as Project Management, Engineering, Commercial, JV partners, and external clients to ensure timely deliverables.  
  • Responsible for ensuring quality, technical contract compliance, design completeness, adherence to schedules, and risk mitigation. 

 Essential Skillset, Education/Qualification, Certification Attainment  

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering; advanced degree preferred. 
  • Professional engineering certification is a plus
  • Proven experience completing power projects with gasifiers as the principal source of fuel to the turbine.  
  • Strong design skills and technical expertise in gasifier technology.  
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices.  
  • Experience in P&ID and mechanical package development.  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to multidisciplinary engineering teams.  
  • Experience of IGCC or similar technology preferred.  
  • Strong attention to detail and experience developing standards and quality procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
