Primary Function of Position
Within the Advanced Imaging and Intelligence group (AI&I), the Advanced Imaging team develops novel imaging capabilities to help surgeons see what they need to see (https://www.intuitive.com/en-us/about-us/newsroom/helping-robotic-surgeons-see).
The intern will report to the Director of Advanced Imaging and be mentored by Advanced Imaging Engineers and Principals.
The main responsibility of this position will be to quantitatively investigate the impacts of sources of error on next-generation imaging modalities. Gathering information from a variety of teams, the main responsibility will be to create a quantitative assessment of the effects of field-related deterioration, e.g. endoscope and light engine deterioration from surgical use, on imaging models.
Essential Job Duties
Our prototype real-time imaging pipelines enable new imaging capabilities while allowing rapid development within a software environment.
We seek a Masters-enrolled candidate with strong software development and integration skills to understand these pipelines and their dependencies on endoscope and light engine characteristics. The work requires developing, debugging, and simulating testing using CUDA, Python and MATLAB. As an intern, you should be able to:

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including relevant skills and experience for this internship, degree-seeking academic program (PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, etc), year in school, and location. The hourly rate is prorated against the intern program salaries listed and total program compensation will be based on internship duration.
