Job Title: Model Monitoring & Governance Specialist

Location: Bangalore/Kolkata

Domain: BFSI – Retail Credit Risk Analytics

Role description: We are looking for a skilled Model Monitoring & Governance Specialist to join our Wealth Private Banking Risk Analytics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing monitoring frameworks for credit risk models, including Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Exposure at Default (EAD) models. The role requires deep expertise in regulatory guidelines, data analysis, and model governance, as well as strong technical proficiency in SAS and Python.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Model Monitoring and Framework Development:
    • Develop and implement monitoring frameworks for Basel and Decision credit risk models, including PD, LGD, and EAD models.
    • Perform regular back testing, sensitivity analysis, and benchmarking to assess and ensure model performance.
    • Analyze model outputs to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
  2. Regulatory Compliance and Expertise:
    • Maintain expertise in regulatory guidelines from PRA, HKMA, Basel 3.1, CCAR, IFRS9, SS 1/23, and other relevant standards.
    • Ensure models adhere to Basel III/IV regulations and other applicable standards in retail risk modeling.
    • Collaborate with regulatory teams to ensure compliance with all internal and external requirements.
  3. Data Management and Quality Assurance:
    • Extract, process, and validate large datasets to ensure data quality and consistency for model monitoring.
    • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to enhance data pipelines and monitoring infrastructure.
    • Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to evaluate model stability and performance over time.
  4. Reporting and Visualization:
    • Generate insightful reports and advanced visualizations using tools such as QlikSense and Google Looker.
    • Communicate findings to stakeholders effectively, providing clarity on model performance and risk assessment.
  5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including risk management, compliance, and data engineering, to support model governance efforts.
    • Provide expert guidance on best practices for regulatory model development, monitoring, and governance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in regulatory model development, monitoring, and governance.
  • Strong understanding of Basel III/IV regulations and their application in retail risk modeling.
  • Expertise in SAS and Python for data analysis, model monitoring, and reporting.
  • Proven experience with tools like QlikSense and Google Looker for data visualization and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex model governance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
