Position Title: Activities Director
Program/Dept: Willow MHRC
Reports To: Clinical Director (Program Director)
Classification: Regular, Full Time, Exempt
Compensation: $90-95K annual
Position Description: Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Activities Director supports clients to achieve treatment goals by developing; supervising and coordinating the therapeutic activity program. Responsible for supervising the MHRC Rehabilitation team and participates as part of the MHRC Leadership team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationship with all individuals served.
- Develop and coordinate a therapeutic activity program that will provide diverse and dynamic opportunities for clients to achieve their treatment goals.
- Ensure that all client program activities are consistently scheduled and meet quality standards set by regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Ensure that Rehabilitation staff are scheduled so that all shifts are covered, and client needs are met.
- Maintain receipts for all expenditures in the MHRC Rehabilitation Department and submit in a timely manner to the Business Manager.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise all Rehabilitation Department staff, providing ongoing daily support and guidance.
- Supervise quality and timely completion of all clinical documentation assigned to the Rehabilitation Department.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with other MHRC departments and with County BHRS representatives, regulatory agencies, community resources, and others with whom the program interacts.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
- Participate in an on-call rotation that ensures sufficient crisis support and continual back-up coverage for program staff.
- In conjunction with all other program staff, actively participate in the effort to ensure that the facility environment is clean, safe, attractive, and comfortable at all times. Notify program leadership of all needs for repair or maintenance of the facility.
- Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings, as assigned.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled supervision sessions.
- Attend training events, as assigned.
Requirements, Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be passionate about Caminar's mission.
- Must have a BS/BA degree in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy, Vocational Counseling, or related field. MS/MA preferred.
- Have two (2) years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, one (1) year of which was full-time in client activities and programs in a mental health setting.
- Registered or eligible for registration as an Occupational Therapist, Creative Arts Therapist or Recreational Therapist in the state of California is preferred but not required.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Ability to develop, complete, and maintain accurate records in accordance with Medi-Cal, County, State, and agency standards.
- Ability to train and coach others in completing program assessments and treatment plans.
- Ability to train and coach others in developing client-centered, culturally competent evidence-based treatment groups and activities.
- Time management and strong organizational skills.
- Oral communication: speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills, and conducts meetings.
- Quality management: looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

- Must be a dynamic self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently on special projects.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.
- Must pass post offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under Department of Health Care Services regulations and/or agency policies.
- This position may require driving so maintaining a valid CA driver license, reliable personal automobile, a clean driving record, and current insurance as required by law are essential job requirements.
- Must own a personal cell phone with reliable service and a data plan to use for business purposes.
- TB clearance and Physical exam post-offer, pre-employment.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
