What we are looking for

This is a crucial role in leading and managing the Shared Service Global Accounts Payable function. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the optimal performance, motivation, and professionalism of the Shared Services team, the accurate and timely processing of all supplier invoices and payments, maintenance and compliance with financial regulations and ensure that processes and controls follow best practices and meet the needs of the business. As a key role within the Finance team, you will require leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally across teams and regions.

You’ll be curious about what we do, how we do it, and how we can make it better for all stakeholders. You’ll have the ability to quickly establish rapport with the Finance team and the other business disciplines including sales, delivery, and support functions.

 

What you will do

Working closely with the Financial Controller-UK and wider finance team you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of accounts payable professionals developing a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Design and implement global accounts payable processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the posting of invoices, supplier payments, and allocation of supplier payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure supplier statements are regularly received, reconciled and supplier issues and discrepancies are tracked, monitored, and resolved promptly.
  • Identify potential risks within the accounts payable function and develop and implement mitigation strategies. Proactively address issues relating to fraud, compliance, and other risks to safeguard the business.
  • Work with the Financial Controller-UK to review, improve, and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounts payable function.
  • Use systems to streamline accounts payable processes and enhance data accuracy, also recommend, and implement relevant tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drive operational performance throughout the team.
  • Create a culture of strong working relationships with suppliers and internal operations teams for timely communication and issue resolution.
  • Provide guidance and support to regional finance teams to ensure consistency and compliance in accounts payable practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline end-to-end processes.
  • Collaborate with audit teams to support audit activities and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Generate regular reports on accounts payable metrics, including aging analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide insightful analysis to support decision-making and identify trends or areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to financial reporting activities within the wide finance function as required.
  • Other ad hoc activities may be required.

Requirements

What you will need

  •  Proven experience in a global multi-currency Accounts Payable function, ideally within a shared service centre model.
  • Strong understanding of processing and compliance requirements and tax regulations. An awareness of international requirements would be an advantage.
  • Ability to adapt to change and drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Experienced leadership and people management skills.
  • Hand-on approach when required.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel and Word.
  • Sage 50 / Intacct experience would be desired.
