The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) Research Institute is a highly successful nonprofit whose mission is to accelerate cures through stem cell research.
We seek an Accounts Payable Assistant (Part Time) to support the NYSCF Finance & Operations department. In this role, you will perform essential accounting work and assist in tracking, monitoring and reporting of financial activity in the organization. You will work directly with the Finance & Operations team to maintain accurate, efficient, and effective accounting and budget systems.
This role is a part-time position. Expected hours are 25 per week and the role requires you to work onsite at our office in Manhattan. The schedule can be flexible, but it must be Monday through Friday during business hours of 9:30 am - 5:30 pm.
What you'll do:
- Accurately review, code and enter bills into QuickBooks.
- Review billing statements and correspond with vendors regarding payments and credits.
- Conduct check runs.
- Stamp paid bills and purchase orders.
- Comply with NYSCF’s policies and procedures for the maintenance of vendor accounts.
- Prepare Visa reconciliation reports.
- Process employee expense reports.
- Support Finance staff with financial statement preparation, annual audits, and tax return preparation.
- Make recommendations to improve accounting systems and processes.
- Maintain financial files and records, ensuring that documents and paid bills are filed in a timely fashion.
- Assist the purchasing staff with following up on open orders and billing matters.
- Maintain vendor files, new vendor forms, W-9 forms and credit applications.

- 2+ years of previous bookkeeping experience.
- The level is dependent on experience.
