In the Finance team we are seeking an experienced


ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST


to join our growing team and work from our office in Leiden.


The Accounting Specialist will be a hybrid of an accounting and a business finance position. The position will be helping both the Director of Corporate Control and the Senior Finance Manager in both accounting and finance tasks. Our ideal candidate is someone who is highly motivated, creative, and is excited to learn. We are looking for someone who doesn’t shy away from technology or innovation and is willing to bring that mindset to the job. We are looking for someone who would be interested in a broader range of finance and accounting activities, and who is flexible, proactive and change adaptive. As a start-up, we are quite literally building the company and Finance department that we strive for, so there is always ample opportunity for new experiences and the ability to contribute directly to the build-out of our processes and structure!


The position will report to the Director of Corporate Control, but will require ample collaboration with multiple Finance members and occasional cross-collaboration with other departments. Additionally, the successful candidate will be highly organized and an effective multi-tasker with the ability to prioritize key initiatives, with strong attention to detail and a dedication to quality in everything they do.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Actively participate in our closing process, including preparing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for each of our key accounts
  • Actively support the quarterly consolidation and financial reporting process, including drafting footnotes, preparing supporting schedules for disclosures, and performing functional cost allocations
  • Support year-end statutory closing process and audit process, including performing closing checklist activities, booking key journal entries, and liaising and providing support to our auditors;
  • Fixed assets administration and lease accounting.
  • Work closely with the payroll and HR departments to prepare quarterly journal entries and accruals.
  • Actively keep all relevant accounting procedures and processes up to date
  • Involvement in special projects and ad-hoc reporting

Business Finance:

  • Responsible for the generation of PO’s and ensuring budget is up to date;
  • Helping transform & synthesize data from newly integrated PO system to provide valuable business insights & enhanced forecasting data & capabilities
  • Track forecast accuracy and budget to actual progress, including identifying areas for cost savings.
  • Assist in the budgeting process by liaising with key business stakeholders and assisting with the development of ground-up budgets to present to the Board for approval
  • Support with Cash Management including cash forecast, cash concentration and capital deployment.
