Accounting Senior Manager

About the role

The Senior Accounting Manager will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will manage the monthly closing of accounts and prepare reports to support the financial statements.

The Senior Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Corporate Controller and others in the organization in the analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls.

The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, and a solid operational and technical accounting background, and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity, and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment


Responsibilities

Accounting Operations Management:

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP accounting principles and company policies.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other financial transactions prepared by the accounting team.
  • Monitor and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring proper recording and classification of transactions related to inventories, cost of goods sold (COGS), and other relevant accounts.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and assist in providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation

Netsuite and Inventory Management Software Implementation:

  • Play a key role in the maintenance of Netsuite and the Inventory Management software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Supply Chain, Product, Engineering, and Data, to ensure seamless integration and proper configuration of systems.
  • Identify and communicate finance-related requirements and needs for the successful implementation of accounting software.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of inventory valuation methodologies and controls within the system.

Inventory Management and Cost Control:

  • Oversee the management of large inventories, including inventory valuation, costing methodologies, and year-end physical inventory count coordination.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Team and the Accounts Payable Team to ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory transactions including purchase orders, receipts, and adjustments.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls related to inventory management and cost control to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports including ad-hoc management reports and monthly financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, cash flow projections, and other financial projections.
  • Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth within the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • US CPA designation and experience in public accounting.
  • Leadership position in the accounting department of an operating company.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, inventory valuation, and cost accounting methodologies.
  • Experience in implementing or working with Netsuite and Inventory Management software is highly desirable.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statements, internal controls, and US GAAP.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and remotely.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Compensation

All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
Pay Range for this position
$150,000$180,000 USD
