Coinbase is looking for a Head of Finance, Singapore to provide detailed finance, reporting and accounting support for its regulated entity based in Singapore, reporting to the Global Assistant Controller in the US. The Head of Finance, Singapore provides effective financial leadership for Coinbase Singapore to grow value responsibly, in a profitable and sustainable manner. The Head of Finance, Singapore fosters ethical and responsible decision making and robust management and corporate governance practices and is also responsible for reporting accurate financial information in compliance with applicable accounting standards and more generally for Coinbase Singapore’s financial condition. We are looking for a candidate who has a positive attitude and is highly motivated to learn and grow within the organization, with a proven ability to thrive in a fast paced multi-task oriented environment. This position will play a crucial role in meeting our regulatory, financial and tax reporting obligations in the Singapore. You will work and collaborate closely with many stakeholders across the organization, including regulatory compliance, finance, and data, tax, treasury and operations

 

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): To be completed by all business teams except Eng.

  • Partnering up with Global accounting team to  prepare and/or review assigned month end and quarter end close book close processes, own the Company’s parallel books of accounts maintained in line with IFRS and maintain appropriate reconciliations and valid support for all adjustments, and periodically prepare, update, and review and update major accounting policies and policies and accounting and estimates, and adjust financial statements based on reconciliation results.
  • Responsible for preparation and coordination of financial statements, regulatory reporting,  business forecasts (partnering with FP&A) and other related information for external use (audit, submission to regulators, etc.), and play a leading role in external communication as the representative of the Finance department.
  • Monitoring the safeguarding of customer funds in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and overseeing reconciliation procedures.
  • Overseeing the finance function in Singapore and ensuring finance processes operate effectively and accurately, following the Coinbase centralized model,  delivering accurate financial insights into the business.
  • Preparation of Singapore monthly management reporting and analytical review thereof, including reporting and communication to the Board.
  • Acting as a contact point within the company for financial and accounting queries and queries from regulatory authorities relating to the finance function of the firm.
  • Monitoring and overseeing the performance of outsourced services by outsourced service providers relating to the finance function, monitoring KPIs and SLAs.
  • Active in the Singapore entity’s liquidity management and coordinating closely with the treasury team.
  • Participating  in critical projects, including the transitioning to new external vendors, integration, automation or enhancements.
  • Supporting ad hoc financial information requests and analyses and other special projects as assigned.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): To be completed by all business teams except Eng. 

  • 8+ years’ experience as a finance professional at a payment/e-money institution, bank, fin-tech, financial regulatory agency and/or professional service firm serving financial institution clients.
  • 5+ experience working in a regulated entity/environment.
  • A professional finance qualification, and membership of a recognised professional body, is a prerequisite (ACA, GCA, CMA, ACCA, or CPA with experience in senior management).
  • Experience in and understanding of payments, e-money or wallet products/services, banking functions, merchant processing.
  • Current or previous experience working with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of business functions, with an emphasis on senior management and a track record of performing in a management role. Project management experience is desirable but not essential. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication – fluency in English is a key requirement
  • Track record of building strong relationships with boards, senior management and regulators
  • Capacity to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards and effective time management
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment within a high growth business
  • Expert knowledge and experience with IFRS, FRS 102 and US GAAP. 
  • Knowledge of accounting month-end book close process.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to haves

  • Experience working in Netsuite, FloQast and Google Suite.Experience working in a SOX control environment.
  • Basic knowledge of digital assets and the crypto economy, or a desire to learn.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and experience working with Snowflake, Looker or similar analytics tools

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).

Pay Range:
$206,000$206,000 SGD
