About the Role
Careem is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Finance team as the Accounting Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
  • Oversee and manage the daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure that all financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and in compliance with IFRS and relevant GAAP standards.
  • Supervise the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Provide guidance on the application and interpretation of IFRS and GAAP principles to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to align financial reporting with the company’s strategic goals.
Collaboration and Liaison:
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and other financial partners.
  • Work closely with the finance team and other departments to support overall financial goals and objectives.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Stay updated on the latest IFRS/GAAP pronouncements to ensure Careem's accounting policies and financial statement templates comply with new adoptions and reporting needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Monitor and manage financial risks, including credit, operational, and compliance risks.
Audit Support:
  • Support the audit processes, including quarterly, statutory, and consolidated audits, by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Collaborate with the audit team to ensure the quality and consistency of audit work related to financial reporting.
  • Assist in preparing clear and comprehensive audit reports that address IFRS and GAAP compliance for presentation to executive management.
Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline accounting processes to support organizational growth.
  • Lead the implementation of new accounting systems or tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting practices to optimize operational efficiency.
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, with at least the last 4 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and experience in a global, complex organization.
  • Mandatory proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience in the technology or ride-hailing industry is a plus.
