Looking to start a career in Hotel Finance? Consider applying for our Accounting Clerk role.

The role will be based at The Hoxton, Portland. You’ll report directly to the Director of Finance and work closely with the Assistant Director of Finance. The position is Monday-Friday 8-430p or 830-5p.
 
You’ll support the management accounts in relation to the hotel and the restaurants.

The details...

  • Process the Daily Hotel banking as the general cashier, which includes creating cash deposits in the appropriate accounts.
  • Daily carry out a complete Income Audit of the Hotel’s revenue as reported by night audit.
  • Resolve and correct any variances in the above in a timely manner.
  • Review Front Office guest ledgers and Sales ledgers and perform Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Respond to guest queries in a timely basis.
  • Review and respond to credit card inquiries, commission claims, and chargebacks promptly.
  • Ensure Area Director of Finance is made aware of any continued variances, or where there may be training opportunities in other departments.
  • Accounts Payable functions including proper invoice GL coding with management support, account reconciliation and vendor relations.
  • Assist and support the implementation and future development of accounting systems, policies, and procedures.

About you...

  • You have 1 – 2 years of hotel finance experience or front office/night audit experience
  • You have some bookkeeping or similarly related experience. You know your way around Excel and what you're looking at.
  • You execute. You get things done with minimal oversight
  • You are scarily organized and can manage/prioritize multiple tasks at once.
  • You are humble. There are no egos, and no drama
  • Ability to take ownership of issues, solve problems and make effective decisions
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to The Hoxton’s unique culture
  • You’ll work positively and collaboratively to achieve the highest standards of delivery at work
