Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for an Accounting Assistant I
Position is based in the Anchorage office Monday – Friday
Responsibilities:
• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Greeting visitors and customers, directing them to the right person
• Answer phone calls, organizing mail, and ordering office supplies
• Accounting tasking including posting financial transactions, recording checks, and reconciling credit cards
• Support with processing AP payments to vendors weekly
• Assist the AP team with entering invoices into the accounting system when needed
• Reconcile vendor statements and research and correct discrepancies.
• Support with entering time for employees, if necessary
• Support on other accounting assignments when called upon to do so
• Track and follow up with others on their office assignments
• Prepare and send emails and reports to department managers
• Support the coordination of company gatherings or meetings
• Support office running smoothly with good organizational skills and reminders to employees to help keep the office clean
• Assist new employees or visitors in getting badge access cards
• Purchase supplies and office equipment to support the Anchorage office staff
• Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience of general office, clerical accounting experience
o Substitution for experience requirement:
Post-secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the experience requirement if it includes at least 3 semesters or equivalent hours in accounting
• Experience showing good communication, interpersonal, motivational, and organizational skills
• Computer related experience to include basic knowledge to use Microsoft (MS) MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
• Must have proficient writing skills; be highly organized and able to work with minimal guidance
• Must be task oriented, self-motivated and have the inherent ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and work as a team-player
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills. The ability to be at work consistently, predictably, and independently
• Ability to adhere to confidentiality standards
• Observance of a level of personal hygiene/appearance that meets generally accepted business standards and expectations
• Sufficient language skills to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
