About the team
The Accounting Team is responsible for understanding and telling Stripe’s financial story and shaping our collective understanding of how Stripe is performing as a business. Our primary focus is maintaining a well-controlled environment that effectively supports corporate governance, financial reporting and disclosure requirements. We advise and enable Stripe to grow. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.
What you'll do
Stripe is seeking an experienced accountant to join its world class Accounting team and help us scale for the future, in a fast-paced environment that’s growing rapidly. In this you role you will support the Corporate Accounting team with the following responsibilities:
- Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including manual journal entry preparation and posting, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses and analytical reviews
- Participate in building scalable accounting processes to support global growth
- Partner with teams such as Finance Systems, Finance and Strategy, Treasury, Investor Relations, Tax, and Legal to determine and operationalize the accounting and reporting implications of new business initiatives and transactions
- Execute efficient internal control documentation and procedures
- Enhance and maintain existing accounting policy and procedural documentation
- Assist with the execution of financial consolidation workflows
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial reporting
Who you are

Minimum requirements
- An accountancy qualification (e.g ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Degree in Accounting or Finance background
- Proven experience in the monthly close process, journal preparation and posting, audit, regulatory reporting and exposure to accounting systems.
- Experience in month end reporting and financial statement preparation
- Working knowledge of US GAAP
- The ability to bring structure to ambiguous areas of opportunity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
- Strong analytical skills and strong knowledge of Excel
- An enthusiastic “roll up your sleeves” mentality
- A passion for creating new systems and solving problems via infrastructure and automation
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and with different cultures
- Demonstrated experience with internal controls
- Ability to be flexible and comfortable with changing requirements
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of (or experience in) the technology or payments industry.
- Experience working with Oracle Suite
- Experience with Hubble and SQL
- Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, or other visualization tools
