The Accountant provides financial services to each of the company. Duties include general accounting, month-end reporting, analysis, and governance, regulatory and corporate compliance while providing timely information and support to both the communities and home office.
Job funtions:
- Work closely with the directors of finance, accounting department and others within the organization to ensure journal entries and other transactions are accurately and timely recorded
- Prepare daily reconciliations for cash accounts
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies
- Work closely with the accounting/finance team and others within the organization to ensure open and accurate communications and excellent customer service
- Identify and resolve issues as they arise, and determine the process and controls needed to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future
- Assist in the preparation of month-end, quarterly and annual reports, consolidation, and other reporting as assigned
- Work with the controller on special projects
- Assist with the budget, forecasting and audit processes as requested
- Continuously pursue process improvement and embraces best practices in the accounting function
- Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or an associate’s degree with five years of demonstrated experience in accounting.
- Two to three years accounting experience.
- Knowledge of US GAAP.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be able to effectively communicate in person and over the phone.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Detail oriented, with problem solving skills to ensure accuracy.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to navigate through multiple systems. Spreadsheet, software, and hardware proficient.
- Must be self-motivated and work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
- Must demonstrate strong analytical skills along with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
